AI Chat and ChatMind.

Ask questions across your knowledge base with sources and controls. ChatMind answers using your captures, pages, tasks, projects, tags, Memory Vault, and approved integration context — and unlike generic AI, it can cite the specific items you saved or connected.

How it works

Optional response style

In Settings, you can choose to generate a private Response style from eligible ChatMind conversations. You stay in control: generate, refresh, pause, or delete it at any time.

PRIVATE BY DESIGN

Clear Tangle shows a safe summary of the style being applied instead of displaying your source writing. Temporary Chat stays separate from this feature.

ChatMind context sources

ChatMind can answer from a controlled set of Clear Tangle context:

Captures and pagesNotes, transcripts, images, long-form pages, and source-linked details.
Memory VaultDurable user and project memory for long-running context.
Slack mentionsSubstantive @ClearTangle questions in Slack can receive ChatMind-backed answers.
Tool approvalsActions that change workspace state can stay behind review or approval.

@mention system

Control exactly what context AI uses with @mentions. This gives you explicit control over your AI conversations — no hidden knowledge or guesswork.

COMBINE THEM

You can use multiple @mentions in a single message. For example: “Based on @project:Work and @tag:priority, what should I focus on today?”

Voice input

Click the microphone icon in the chat input or use keyboard shortcuts to speak your questions. Your speech is transcribed and sent to the AI just like typed messages.

Tip: voice input is especially useful for quick questions when you don't want to type, or for capturing longer, more nuanced queries.

Response actions

Every AI response comes with helpful actions you can take:

CopyCopy the response to clipboard.
Save as pageSave the response as a permanent page.
RegenerateGet a different response.

Source citations

AI responses include a “Brain Sources” section showing which captures were used. Click any source to:
